In the beginning, CDT's purpose was to find and train people, both men and women to become Special forces military operatives.
CDT has evolved into an organization committed to using proven techniques to help veterans, first responders, teachers and their families to deal with issues related to PTSD, Trauma and Disassociation.
After testing Jeffrey C.Zimmerman OMD and his Harmonetiks technique, Alan brought "Doc"on to help calm the candidates bodies and minds while improving their performance in stressful situations. Here "Doc" is helping Alan calm his mind using the Readiness Stance before Alan sets a world record for 2-finger pull-ups as a fundraiser for the Marines and Easter Seals.
The preparation phase was designed to address the physical and mental stressors attendees would experience by not only using various exercises and simulations but also integrating various alternative practices such found in chi gong and martial arts in order to strengthen the mind and firm the applicants resolve

The outcome of this program has proven to be very supportive of candidates’ ability to attain important military positions. In fact, Alan Sharkany was awarded the President's Volunteer Service award for Lifetime Achievement for his more than 25 years of service directed towards helping young men and women obtain their military centered career aspirations through a rigorous non-profit program he runs called BUD/S and Beyond (the former name of CDT).
Over the last few years and after the retirement of Alan Sharkany the CDT program has evolved. Using many of the core skills and techniques it has been found that people suffering from PTSD, and other traumatic situations are greatly helped by using many of the core systems that were employed to aid young men and women obtain entrance into Tier 1 military programs. The chief purpose of the current iteration of CDT is to serve people who have a desire to find mental, physical and spiritual balance/harmony after experiencing traumatic life altering situations either on the battlefield, the medical arena, or in various stressful communities.
Veterans, first responders and teachers and various other sub-groups are to be supported through this program and provided with educational training in order to foster wellness on many different levels. For this reason, it is our belief that people everywhere deserve to live a life free of trauma and its devastating effects, whether or not they have the resources and support readily available to them, CDT is a dynamic response to current global crises in addition to historical trauma found throughout our communities. We therefore acknowledge the timely/urgent need to introduce innovative systems and to make it possible for people without means to take advantage of healing techniques that have been developed over the years by a host of talented providers.

Alan, having retired as chief instructor is now taking CDT on to a greater mission, desiring to increase its' impact. Partnering with Dr. Jeffrey C. Zimmerman, and The Harmonetiks Project is how that mission shall be accomplished.
Our vision is to provide a range of support that will facilitate, train and heal, traumatized individuals and groups such as veterans, first responders, teachers and their families. We strive to provide a platform that aids those individuals that have been beset mentally and physically through societal disasters such as war, climatic occurrences, epidemics, family/community trauma and a host of other issues. In addition, we strive to provide practical, scientifically tested skills that heal the individual from abuse and trauma, rather than just coping with the symptoms, and makes health and wellness the new normal, thus effectively addressing the root of society’s toughest problems.
Our goal is simple. We need to heal our participants and their families. Restore self esteem, give a sense of purpose and help them create financial independence through helping others.
